Valley of 1000 lakes.
Our way is on Barskaun gorge. Slopes of Barskaun valley made of syenites and diorites. Streams of stones fall down from three kilometer high. Academics call these streams of stones as "stone glaciers". It is something like monument of great ice age. Band of 32 serpentines lead us up. We climb on Sary-Moinok it is pass across the first stone wall of Terskei which is on 3.6 kilometer high. The next pass is called Barskaun- 3819 meter. Tale.
Not water but strong wind and sunny rays were the main creator of this wild red landscape. The red sandstone is weathered easily. Barskaun gorge.
When we enter to Barskaun Gorge we see site of ancient settlement (VIII- XII) on the right coast Barskaun River. It checked the way of Silk Road going across Barskaun pass and Bedel to China. The valley of Barskaun River seemed the same as the valley of Issyk-Kul region. Soon extra-ordinary high and harmonious spruces are springing up before our eyes. They grow on green hills up foot of waterfalls fallen down from naked rocks.Original peculiarity of these forests is park nature. Two meter barberry bushes grow everywhere. Rocks a similar with grandiose Gothic cathedral.
